How many times have we prayed for God to give us strength? I know I pray that prayer EVERY morning before I get out of bed. And like clockwork, God answers and gives me strength for the day.
As from my last blog, you know that I was in the Emergency Room for chest pressure and breathing issues. Although I was feeling somewhat better, I earnestly prayed the prayer for strength as my body was still tired. One day as I was praying this prayer, the Lord said, "You need to rest". I couldn't fight that statement as my body was literally too tired to even get out of the bed! God said, "In order to get strength, you need to rest".
That statement is so true! Not only because God spoke it, but in the natural it is true. We all know we need to sleep in order for the body to become restored. There are different stages of sleep. There's the awake and light sleep stage in which we just about to fall asleep and could be easily awakened. The other two stages, REM and deep sleep, are what we need in order for our bodies to heal and restore itself. In order for us to rebuild ourselves, we need the deepest sleep. This goes in line with, "In order to get strength, you need to rest".
Whether we need strength or rest, we can go to Jesus. He said in Matthew 11:28, "Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy-laden and overburdened, and I will cause you to rest. [I will ease and relieve and refresh your souls.]" Therefore, when we need strength in our bodies or our souls, we can go to Jesus and He will give us rest so we can be strong!
This week, be strengthened by resting. Comment below. Have a blessed week!
