P.S.L. - Week 26 - Merry-go-Round

Updated: Jul 31, 2022

Have you ever been on a merry-go-round? Probably when you were a child or with your children. This is a ride in which you either sit on a horse or in a carriage and go round and round. When going round and round, you go past the same people, objects, scenery, etc. Nothing changes. Despite this, we enjoyed this when we were young.

In life we at times are on a merry-go-round. We go through life encountering the same things. We go through the same problems over and over. It may not be exactly the same situations but the same in essence. For example, my merry-go-round situation is my health. When things start to go downhill, I try to downplay it. However, deep in my spirit, I sense that I should contact the doctor, but I don't. I start trying to treat myself, asking others for advice, or do anything so I don't have to see the doctor or go to the hospital. I wait and wait and things begin to get worst. As it get worse, then I end up consulting the doctor . I haven't learned that when things start to go downhill, I should consult the doctor first. What do I have to lose? He/She can only say take this or that and then my symptoms wouldn't last as long as it does. That inkling I had initially was the Holy Spirit but I didn't listen. I have a health situation I am facing now. I was coughing up mucus/phlegm. Initially it was clear, then it got white, thick and cloudy, then it became yellow once. I then figured being that it was yellow, it was the beginning of an infection, I started thinking, "should I contact the doctor"? Well, when it was yellow once again, I did and was put on antibiotics. I figured if I would do what I "normally" would do, this infection would get worse and I possibly would have to be hospitalized. I decided to get off the merry-go-round this time by contacting my doctor.

Are you going through a merry-go-round in your life? The first thing you and I have to do is recognize that we're on it. We need to listen to that still small voice within us which is the Holy Spirit. Once we do, then we can get off by doing something different. By doing something different will break the chain and you and I will be free. This week, get off the merry-go-round in your life by listening to the voice of the Holy Spirit. Have a blessed week!
